How Board/Superintendent Teams Can Provide Effective Constituent Service Without Board Micromanagement
Tuesday, October 30 - Wednesday, October 31, 2007
Nashville, Tennessee In partnership with the Council of the Great City Schools, CRSS offers a two-day pre-conference symposium prior to the CGCS annual fall conference. The 2007 symposium, "How Board Superintendent Teams Can Provide Effective Constituent Service Without Board Micromanagement," will be held October 30 - 31, 2007 in Nashville, Tennessee.
How can urban school board members and superintendents work together more productively to create high-performing school districts? One important way is for school board members to provide outstanding service to constituents and to carry out oversight responsibilities more effectively—without interfering in the management of the school district. Effective constituent service and management oversight are vital to creating a high-performing school system and building and maintaining civic capacity for district improvement.
The 2007 symposium provides urban school board members and superintendents with an opportunity to examine Reform Governance® concepts as they apply to their own school districts through group exercises, presentations, and a district case study. All sessions are designed to encourage participants to scrutinize their district's current practices in the areas of constituent service and management oversight and learn how to establish more effective systems and protocols.
Individuals or district teams are encouraged to attend. The registration fee is $50 per participant. For more information, please contact Faith Edwards at edwards@crss.org or (713) 682-9888.
