"Extremely valuable experience. Not only are we presented with a wealth of information and professional resources, but the fact that we’re utilizing actual district data and dynamics makes this very powerful."

Board Member Hartford Public Schools
What is the Reform Governance® Framework?
Reform Governance® is a comprehensive theory of governance for school boards committed to effective and efficient district operations, high achievement for all children, and the elimination of the achievement gap. It is built on the belief that school boards are in position to have the most influence over a school district’s success and that to achieve a successful outcome, districts must be redesigned.
To act, boards must be firm about their core beliefs and commitments. They also need to have a clear theory of action for change that drives redesign of their district through the enactment and oversight of aligned reform policies. Policy development and approval, and all their other work, must rest on clear and shared understandings of roles, responsibilities and relationships, and board conventions about how work is done. Broad public support must also be earned and continuity assured.
The Reform Governance® framework provides the conceptual basis for Governance Solutions’ entire body of education, training, and consulting. Each component of the framework represents an important area of your school board’s responsibilities.
The pressure on school boards has never been greater. School districts must meet rising federal and state accountability standards as they prepare children for a productive life in an increasingly complex and competitive world. And school boards and superintendents must provide the effective leadership to get the job done. This is where CRSS can help.
With our services you will resolve competing demands so that student achievement remains your first priority. With our services you will establish common ground and clear priorities. You will learn how to successfully change a district culture by establishing core beliefs about educating children, adopting a theory of action and integrating those leadership decisions through strong board policies, and then implementing those policies.

"I now understand the board’s vital role in reforming and transforming our school district. Before taking part in the… work, I could only hope and dream about all of our kids being prepared for college, work and life. Now I know it will happen."
—Janet Ryan, Board Member Fresno Unified School District
