The Charles A. Texas Education Agency (TEA) 

The mission of the Texas Education Agency is to provide leadership, guidance, and resources to help schools meet the educational needs of all students. TEA is comprised of the Commissioner of Education and Agency staff that, along with the State Board of Education (SBOE) guide and monitor activities and programs related to public education in Texas. The SBOE consists of 15 elected members representing different regions of the state.  One member is appointed chair by the governor.

American Association of School Administrators (AASA) 

Founded in 1865, the American Association of School Administrators is the professional organization for more than 13,000 educational leaders across the United States.  AASA members range from chief executive officers, superintendents, and senior-level school administrators to cabinet members, professors, and aspiring school system leaders.

American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research (AEI) 

The American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research is a private, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution dedicated to research and education on issues of government, politics, economics, and social welfare.  Founded in 1943, AEI is home to some of America's most accomplished public policy experts representing a wide range of fields including economics, law, political science, defense, foreign policy studies, ethics, theology, medicine, and other areas of expertise. Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) 

Founded in 1993, CRPE seeks to develop and evaluate methods of public oversight that can allow individual schools to be focused, effective, and accountable. The Center finds that "the most productive schools follow coherent instructional strategies in an environment free of regulation and compliance imperatives."  It publishes a variety of informative research reports about governance, standards, charter schools, and other topics, which are free to download from their website.

Clearinghouse on Educational Policy and Management (CEPM) 

Formerly ERIC Clearinghouse on Educational Management 

CEPM provides access to education literature and resources in the area of education management and governance produced by the ERIC/CEM before its closing in 2003, including the ERIC Digests and the ERIC / CEM Information Newsletter. The Clearinghouse currently operates in the Center for Advanced Technology in Education at the University of Oregon. The Council of the Great City Schools is a coalition of 66 of the nation's largest urban public school systems.  Founded in 1956 and incorporated in 1961, the Council is located in Washington, D.C., where it works to promote urban education through legislation, research, media relations, instruction, management, technology, and other special projects designed to improve the quality of urban education in America.

Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) 

Founded in 1948, SREB runs the High Schools that Work reform network. The organization assists state leaders by directing attention to key issues; collecting, compiling and analyzing comparable data; and conducting broad studies and initiating discussions that help states and institutions form long-range plans, actions, and policy proposals. The Board currently operates as an interstate compact of 16 southern and eastern states, including Texas.  SREB has published more than 300 reports providing the latest information on education policies and practices, which are easily accessible via the online catalog at their website.

Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL) 

Based in Austin, Texas, SEDL is a private, nonprofit education research, development, and dissemination corporation that works to improve quality of teaching and learning. They publish the SEDL Letter, an institutional magazine that covers issues of teaching, learning, and policy as they affect K-12 education with a mix of articles on national and regional trends, research findings, and promising practices.  Other features include essays from classroom teachers and instructional activities for use in the classroom.
