CRSS added the Texas Fellows Alumni Program in 2003 to provide continuing support for its growing cadre of Texas Institute graduates. It brings past participants together for additional training in reform leadership.
Annual events include a breakfast meeting in conjunction with the Texas Association of School Boards / Texas Association of School Administrators annual conference, and a weekend training retreat. Superintendents and other board members from target districts are invited to join Texas Fellows at these alumni events.
The 2010 Texas Fellows Alumni Retreat took place in Houston. The retreat, Collaboration: Reform Governance Starts with Teamwork, focused on the importance of building and maintaining healthy relationships between governance team members and with the community. Past retreat themes have included accountability, policy development and oversight, and the importance of data in school governance.
