The Texas Fellows Alumni Program

An ongoing project for Texas Institute Fellows to expand their knowledge and skills as reform leaders

CRSS added the Texas Fellows Alumni Program in 2003 to provide continuing support for its growing cadre of Texas Institute graduates. It brings past participants together for additional training in reform leadership.

Annual events include a breakfast meeting in conjunction with the Texas Association of School Boards / Texas Association of School Administrators annual conference, and a weekend training retreat.  Superintendents and other board members from target districts are invited to join Texas Fellows at these alumni events.

The most recent Texas Institute Alumni Retreat took place in March 2008 in Houston. The theme of the latest retreat focused on accountability, including disparities between the federal and the state accountability systems.  Past themes included policy development and oversight, preparing for a new state testing program, and the importance of information in school governance.

A call to all of our alumni members to participate in the TFA / CRSS School Board Fellows Program

As an extension of your training in Reform Governance®, CRSS is offering you a special opportunity to make an even bigger impact on the future of education in America. Through a joint venture with Teach For America (TFA) called the TFA / CRSS School Board Fellows Program, we will help match you with a TFA Fellow to act as their mentor and provide knowledge, insights, inspiration, and leadership that will help them build a deep, significant, and practical knowledge base while they consider school board involvement in the future.  We strongly encourage all of you to consider taking an active role in this important program.  Contact us to learn more.
