Our History: A Tradition of High Performance Through Innovative Training
The Center for Reform of School Systems (CRSS) was founded on a vision of a better America and built on a tradition of meaningful reforms designed to help school districts reach higher levels of performance. Our mission is to teach school board members and superintendents how to transform their districts to deliver high student achievement
- because every community deserves a great school district.
In June 2001, Don McAdams—12-year veteran of the Houston Independent School District Board, former professor, college president, and quality management consultant—established CRSS as a Texas not-for-profit corporation. Using
Reform Governance®, the powerful model described in his book, What School Boards Can Do, CRSS began delivering innovative training programs teaching school boards how to govern effectively and focus on becoming forceful agents for change.
In its early years, CRSS focused on training newly elected board members. Since then, the scope of our work has expanded to include a full range of training, coaching, and consulting services proven to help board-superintendent teams make a significant and lasting impact on their districts and communities.
Today, CRSS offers a comprehensive set of programs that all share the same objective: to transform American school districts for high performance.
